Why
choose Barnes Clean Care?
1. We are experts at what we do.
We have been in the
business since 1967 and have over 75,000 hours of experience in the
cleaning industry.
2. Our specialized steam cleaning is the most effective way
to remove dirt and sanitize carpet and furniture.
Our steam is pressurized to go deep and loosen ground in dirt. Our
method removes mildew, bacteria, dust, pollen, dust mites and more.
3. Our products are non-toxic, biodegradable and safe for
stain resistant fibers. They are free of artificial optical
brighteners, butyl and chlorinated solvents.
4. Carpet is raked to restore the original luster,
height and nap.
5. Carpets dry faster because steam uses less moisture.
6. Extracted material is retained in the mobile unit outside.
7. We perform high-quality workmanship at a fair price.
8. We are bonded and insured.
9. From a truck-mounted unit, we precondition the surface
with a chemical to loosen soil, then use 235 degree steam at 375 psi
to rinse. Our unit is powerful enough to pull out 95% of all moisture.
10. We give Free estimates and Free demonstrations.
11. We guarantee you will be satisfied or we will re-clean
for free.
12. We have the best equipment and we know how to use it.

Things
you should know about pH and Steam:
Most
cleaning uses water as a "carrier" to bring cleaning agents
to the object being cleaned. After the soil is released, the water
carries it away in the rinse. Most soiling problems are on the acidic
side of the scale so paying close attention to pH is important. Because
most soiling is acidic, most cleaning agents are alkaline. When the
alkaline agents contact the acidic soil, pH balancing occurs and the
soil is neutralized resulting in better cleaning and rinsing. This
is called pH balancing. Achieving proper pH balancing is essential
in cleaning. With the wrong pH there is the potential for creating
costly problems such as "brown-out," "burning"
and "dye-shocking." Most often these problems don't show
up until after the job has been done and many homeowners do not realize
that the new "spots" were actually caused by their cleaners.
In addition, many fiber dyes can become loose or change color wen
the pH changes. Carpet fiber dyes are often bound more tightly to
the fiber than upholstery fiber dyes. Printed dyes can become very
loose or change colors markedly if the pH changes a few units.

Dr.
Michael Berry of the United States Environmental Protection Agency
has this to say about carpet and upholstery cleaning:
"I have reached the conclusion that carpeting and fabrics not
cleaned and properly maintained have the potential to cause a variety
of health problems inside the building environment."
"From a public health perspective I would find it impossible
to justify the installation of carpets indoors without the existence
of effective cleaning methods using environmentally sound cleaning
technology by individuals properly trained in the application of
those methods and technology."
"...every time carpet and fabrics are emptied of their pollution
build-up through professional cleaning methods, there is a health
benefit."
"We are also finding that typical vacuuming does not reduce
fine particle levels indoors. Fine particles of less than 7 microns
pass through vacuum cleaning bags. These particles tend to build
up over time and have the greatest potential to cause harm as they
penetrate deep into the human lung."
"Until such time as the fibers are cleaned, the potential for
human health risk remains high."
"...the benefit of extracting is the overall reduction of respirable
particles which cause most of the health effects, reduced cases
of biological induced illnesses, reduced lifetime cancer risks,
and reduced complaints and liability for building owners and managers."

What
Medical Experts say:
Cirrhosis of the liver, usually associated with heavy drinkers, can
be caused by highly polluted urban air, says Dr. Warren
Winkelstein Jr. of the University of California School of Public Health
at Berkeley. The researcher said there is good evidence
that dirty air contains toxic agents capable of directly causing the
common liver ailment. Dr. Winkelstein reported his findings at a meeting
of the American Public Health Association, in Houston.
Dr. Donald Bartlett Jr., Dartmouth physiology professor,
says contaminated air may retard lung development in children under
eight. "Only ten per cent of the 300 million tiny air sacs which
make up ninety percent of the human lung are present at birth. All
the rest develop during the first seven or eight years. It is a real
possibility that breathing polluted air during these years could determine
the development and capability of the lungs a person has for the rest
of his life."

Frequently
asked questions:
Will steam shrink my carpet? No. What should concern
you is leaving water in the carpet, which soaks into the padding
and breeds bacteria. Bacteria leads to odors which multiply and
spread Left untreated, you may have to replace padding, tack strips
and in the worst cases, the floor underneath.
Should I go with the cheapest price? Maybe. We
all live within a budget. Remember, you get what you pay for. Most
cleaners starting out will try to be as cheap as possible. Others
advertise cheap prices. There are reasons they are so cheap: they
tend to cut corners, use cheap chemicals, poor workmanship and outdated
equipment, etc.
How often should I get my furnishings cleaned?
Once a year. This depends on how many people live in your home.
A family of five with a dog will need their home cleaned more often
than someone who lives alone You should try to get things cleaned
at least once every 12 months. This guarantees longer life of the
item and will be easier to clean the next time.
Questions to ask over the telephone:
1. What method of cleaning do you use?
2. Is your company certified?
3. What temperature do you clean at?
4. What powers your unit?
5. What pressure (psi) does your machine clean at?
6. Do you rinse?
7. Do you guarantee your work?
8. Do you give a free estimate of free demonstration?
9. Do you have references?
10. How long have you bee in business cleaning carpets and furnishings?
